Waswasa(whispers of Shaitan/Jinn)

Waswasa

Q1. How do you deal with Waswasa(whispers of Shaitan/Jinn) which continually disturb a person during Wudu and Salaah/Recitation of Qur’an and other daily activities ?

A1. Don’t pay attention to it. Just ask Allah Ta`ala’s help and protection.

Q2. It is recorded in Sahih Hadith Nasa’i 10500 and Abu Dawood 5113, Narrated by Abu Huraira RA that Rasul Allah Sallallaahu Alaihiwa Sallam declared such Waswasa to be Outright Eemaan, when the Sahaaba Radhi Allahu Anhum sought clarification from Rasul Allah Sallallaahu Alaihiwa Sallam about it. Could this Waswasa also mean to be so ?

A2. Insha-Allah.
Q3. Could this Waswasa be due to a person being affected by Sihr(sorcery)? If so, how can one differentiate it from being Outright Eemaan mentioned in point no 2 ?

A3. Don’t pay attention to all these baseless thoughts.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Forgetting to make Sajda-e-sahw

Q: If a person was supposed to make Sajdah Sahw but forgot and made both Salaams, what does he do? Can he make Sajdah Sahw immediately or must he repeat the Salaah?

A: As long as he does not wake up from the place of Salaah nor speak to anyone, he can still make the sajdah-e-sahw and thereafter complete the Salaah in the usual manner. However if he wakes up and moves away from the place Salaah or speaks to anyone, then the Salaah will have to be repeated as long as the time of the Salaah does not expire. Once the time expires the Salaah will not have to be repeated.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Performing Salaah in front of a mirror

Q:

  1. What does Islam say about performing Salaah in front of a mirror or a reflecting object?
  2. People say it is necessary to cover the mirror when we read namaz in front of it. Is it true?

A:

  1. If one performed Salaah in front of a mirror, the Salaah will be valid. However, one should not look at the mirror during Salaah as this will distract one from one’s Salaah and affect one’s devotion and concentration.
  2. It is not necessary.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Ma’zoor

Q: Almost all the time I get a few urine drops after urination, sometimes I don’t get any. I wear an underwear and before every Salah, i wash the place where I think urine drops might have touched, is it ok? Plus some days (not daily) I have gas issues as well. Am I a mazoor? I read quranic wazaif for long hours, if i getup to make fresh wuzu, I probably cant finish the wazaif (for 1 hour or more). I make a wuzu before salaah and continue my salaah and quranic wazaaif.

A: If you qualify as a ma`zoor then you will only have to make wudhu at the beginning of the namaaz time irrespective of how many times that particular breaker of wudhu occurs. A ma`zoor is that person who experiences a breaker of wudhu, like passing of gas or urine incontinence so frequently that from the beginning of the namaaz time until the end of the namaaz time he / she is unable to perform wudhu and read namaaz without that particular breaker of wudhu occurring. If you do not qualify as a ma`zoor then you will have to make wudhu whenever your wudhu breaks. For further details regarding a ma’zoor refer to http://muftionline.co.za/node/1571

The Laws of a Ma’zoor

Q: I have a chronic disease with no cure, which is the inability to hold urination. My clothing is always soiled with urine.

  1. Do I have to change every time I have to pray, knowing that most of the time I’m away from home. What if I can not pray on time?
  2. Sometimes I start to pray and urine comes out, do I have to finish or stop praying?

A: In Shariah, a person will qualify as a ma’zoor if the entire namaaz time passes in such a condition that he is unable to perform the wudhu and the salaah without the uzr being found (i.e. without the factor breaking the wudhu e.g. the coming out of urine being found). This is the law in regard to becoming a ma’zoor. However after one has become a ma’zoor, then in order for one to remain a ma’zoor, the condition is that the ‘uzr will have to be found at least once in every namaaz time. The Shar’i law regarding a Ma’zoor is that he will have to renew his wudhu for every salaah time.

  1. You should ensure that you perform the salaah in its time. If you are unable to change your clothes, then wash the area which the urine has soiled and perform salaah with the same clothing.
  2. Through the urine coming out, your wudhu will not break. However since the urine has soiled your clothes, the salaah will be invalid. Hence you should break the salaah, change your clothes or wash the area which the urine has soiled and thereafter perform your salaah. If it is not possible for you to perform the salaah without the clothes becoming soiled, then in this case it is not compulsory upon you to change your clothes. Performing the salaah with the soiled clothes will be permissible.
