Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam,

Hadiths regarding 9th Dhul Hijjah and Eid ul Adha

Abu Qatada al-Ansari RA reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) was asked about his fasting. He was asked about fasting on the day of Arafat (9th Dhul Hijjah), whereupon he said: “It expiates the sins of the preceding year and the coming year.”
(Muslim)

Narrated Al-Bara’: I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) delivering a Khutba saying, “The first thing to be done on this day (first day of ‘Eid ul Adha) is to pray; and after returning from the prayer we slaughter our sacrifices (in the name of Allah) and whoever does so, he acted according to our Sunna (traditions).”
(Bukhari)

Reported by Shaddad bin Aus (RA): Two are the things which I remember the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) having said: “Verily, Allah has enjoined goodness on everything; so when you kill, kill in a good way; and when you slaughter, slaughter in a good way. So every one of you should sharpen his knife, and let the slaughtered animal die comfortably.”
(Muslim)

When making Qurbani, place the animal facing The Qiblah.

” I have turned my face to that Being who has created the skies and the Earth in the state of the Straight Deen of Ibrahim – and I am not amongst the Mushrikeen. Definitely, my Salaat, my Ibadat and my living and dying is all for Allah, who is the Lord of the worlds, and who has no partner. I have been ordered (all that passed) I am amongst the Muslimeen (the obedient). O Allah this sacrifice is due to You granting us the ability to do so and it is for You “.  (Mishkat)
